PASA raises awareness through books
Despite the pandemic and the difficulties in communicating about the problem of chimpanzee poaching in Africa, PASA had an idea that aims to educate young Africans about animals.
"I Protect the Chimpanzees"
PASA's Kids for Compassionate Conservation program teaches the values of conservation and caring for wildlife through a children's book called “I Protect Chimpanzees”.
Thanks to this book, children learn about the threats of African wildlife such as slash-and-burn agriculture, illegal wildlife trafficking, bushmeat trade or illegal possession of wildlife as pets. .
"Mama P, champion of chimpanzees"
Additionally, another book was made for the Kids for Compassionate Conservation program in which the hero fights for the conservation of wildlife in real life. His name is Posseh Kamara and works at the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
The authors traveled to Sierra Leone to interview “Mama P” and learn more about her commitment to baby chimpanzees and wrote their story on that basis.
The first copies of "Mama P, champion of the chimpanzees" were recently printed. It is already in use in wildlife protection centers in South Africa and Kenya!
KCC book
Ol Peseta Conservancy in Kenya where the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is located uses the KCC book to inspire the younger generations.
