IKAMAPERU

In the tropical Andes, the Alto Mayo region is of great biological wealth! IKAMAPERU created the Tarangué sanctuary there, where several endangered species such as the Andean Titi live in the wild.

In the Amazon basin, the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve is the largest nature reserve in Peru with 2,183,000 hectares. It is made up of a flooded forest which represents one of the most complex hydro-ecosystems in the entire Amazon basin. Near the reserve, IKAMAPERU has created, in partnership with local communities, the La Media Luna sanctuary for the rehabilitation of endangered primates and the protection of biodiversity. Some of the animals live there in semi-freedom. Feeding platforms have been set up to gradually accustom them to no longer being fed by human hands before returning to their wild life.

The Le PAL Nature Foundation supports IKAMAPERU for the achievement of its various objectives:

• Welcoming, caring for and rehabilitating wild animals victims of trafficking
• Sensitize local communities to the preservation of Amazonian ecosystems
• Develop sustainable management of natural resources with local communities
