Yukon, our bald eagle

Yukon lives alone in his aviary but during the presentation he flies with the other eagles of the park (bald eagles but also bald eagles).

Her day begins in the morning with a daily weigh-in to check her health and physical abilities for the day. The healers spend the rest of their morning grooming (called preening) in order to keep their plumage pristine for flight!

Each flight is a discovery for him and learning is progressive. He must recognize all his healers, the esplanade with its turrets and then its surroundings to come and rest on their gloves. When he masters the art of flight and its intricacies even better, he will practice fishing in the basin, like his elders.

After the afternoon flight(s), Yukon receives her food ration in the glove of her handlers and returns to the comfort of her aviary to rest. It is often in the late afternoon that he enjoys taking a bath. The day ends with a “feathered leg” like any self-respecting raptor. This technique allows him to warm up one paw and then he alternates to relieve the weight of his body with his other paw: he can do it for hours and hours .... His other favorite pastime is still watching. back and forth of keepers and other birds in the area.
